Veijo Baltzar has lived in so many houses! He started designing his living spaces early on, developing his style and technique with apartments renovations, moving to bigger projects with large detached houses. His design projects include building houses from the start, as well as multiple abandoned 1800s houses that he has brought back to life. Oskar, Kuopio 2018
This house in the distinguished Haminalahti Court region of Kuopio - the court where Baltzar spent much of his childhood - was a very dear project. Named after his grandfather, this villa represents 1800s Savonian peasant artifact; an ascetic style that keeps modern even after 200 years. It was quite a project for Baltzar and assisting designer A. Sederholm. They started with a "ghost house", a skeleton that had only foundations and old logs.
